1. The process:
Heat and pressure are used to bond the foil (which has multiple layers for adhesion, pigment, and protection) onto your folders. In most cases with text and numbers, the details are debossed (indented) into your folder as well, so that even the possibility of abrasion (from your hands or even from dropping your folder in a parking lot, for example) is minimal.
2. Basis for pricing:
Your cost is made up of two things: first, a cost to setup (ie. assemble and/or die-cast, heat and test) what we are going to stamp; and second, a cost for each folder onto which we stamp what has been prepared.
3. Economy:
For best price and speed, choose our moveable type (Times Roman font at 36 pt size is our standard economical font), and use the standard locations we describe for numbers, choir names, and individual names, which we have automatically pre-positioned on our machines. If you want non-standard locations or colors, for example, you will pay a small premium for the additional setup and attention that those customizations require.
4. Colour or blind debossing:
We normally print using gold foil which elegantly matches the gold-and-black styling of the folders. We can also hot-stamp your folders using “blind debossing” which means that we press the text or image into your folders under high heat and pressure to leave a permanent indentation, but there is no color. This can look very elegant with logos too. Some people like to have numbering stamped using blind debossing, especially when they print a fancy gold logo, to preserve the overall artistic image of the front of the folder without the distraction of gold numbering at top right. Given the durability and extended lifetime of our folders, these added touches aren't a huge expense and can help a choir to feel very proud and prepared, and look great both on tour and at home. We often rush through a set of folders before a choir tours overseas – and with numbering you can track your new assets unambiguously, in case you have to bill a singer for replacement of a folder that has been lost.
Have a look at each type of foil-stamp service we offer, in the index at left, to see which ones you might like to add. Our folders are so popular that they can "walk", and customizing your choir's folders can amount to inexpensive insurance, to ensure they all stay with your choir.
